Bit of a specialist one this, but with a best mate and a future sister in law suffering from wheat intolerance I am always on the look out for good gluten free places. In the heart of Greenwich Village Risotteria has all the Italian staples you would expect, minus the wheat.

Sleeping: Historic Greenpoint duplex
Another great duplex in Brooklyn also on Airbnb. I’d really recommend renting an apartment as an alternative to a hotel.
Sleeping: Historic Storefront on the River
Lovely studio flat for holiday rentals in Brooklyn on Airbnb. Thanks to Tom Kidd for the tip off.
Designed by Roman & Williams this hotel features a lobby with salvaged paneling from a Park Avenue apartment and rehabbed vintage furniture. Each room has a piece of original art and is designed so it is hard to place the period the furniture is from.
Perfect for graphic designers to sleep in.
Thanks to Tom Rogers for the tip off

An art exhibition meets shop at Kiosk as you can buy the objects the proprietors have collected on their travels. A new theme every 6 months throws up some great objects to look at and buy.
Eating/Drinking/Listening: Great Jones Café
One of the last places where you can spin records from the vinyl jukebox in NYC. This place does cajun food and cocktails.

“The storefront, open on weekends to the public, presents a constantly re-imagined group show of artwork, objects, collections and ideas generated by an ever changing cast of collaborators.”
